Plain, WI after World War II was no different than
a million other towns. Young men returning from
the war were eager to get their lives back on track,
start families, and get their share of the prosperity
being promised in Washington by Harry Truman.
Three of those men were Linus, Alfred, and Norm
Kraemer. After growing restless working in their
Uncle's construction business, Norm and Alfred decided
to join forces with Linus to start their own construction
business, and in 1948, Kraemer Brothers was founded. |

The Brothers knew that 12 years of depression and
war had built up a tremendous demand for new buildings.
They knew if they could deliver a quality product,
and satisfy their customers, the business would
never be lacking for work.
Their very first project was a church in Lime Ridge,
WI, contracted for the sum of $60,000. When finished,
the parish priest wrote a letter to the brothers,
which is still treasured 50 years later. |
